Late Friday afternoon, Kris Baggelaar
(center, in white) hosted a Meet and Greet at another famed landmark, the
Algonguin, a hotel perhaps best known for its tradition of hosting literary
and theatrical notables. Cabaret icon Julie Wilson is pictured in the foreground
here, but click on the image at left for an enlarged version of the picture
with all present properly identified. |
 |
The reunion took place at Barnes and Noble, Greenwich
Village, in Manhattan. Kristin Baggelaar was on hand both to host
the event and to autograph copies of her book, The Copacabana.

Maxine Barrat, who danced at the Copa in the early 1940's
with Don Loper (later a famous Hollywood couturier) as Loper & Barrat,
and the author pose with a display board prepared by Kristin Baggelaar
and Copa Girl (1964) Susan Marie Seton. |

In addition to the portion of all sales of her book that
Kristin Baggelaar donates to the Society
of Singers, Barnes and Noble also donated a percent of total sales
made that day to SOS. A nonprofit
organization that helps professional singers in need, SOS
was well represented that day, with former presidents of SOS,
Chapter East, Mary Louise Britten (far left) and Terri Stevens (signing
autographs), and other board members (not pictured) on hand |

Bill Britten is engrossed in reading while others share
Copa memories and enjoy the camaraderie of longtime friends. |

Copa Girl Barbara Baxter, one of two Copa Girls who unexpectedly
arrived at the event, chats here with host Kristin Baggelaar and Copa Girl
Joan Wynne. |

Singer Jill Corey, who debuted as a Copa headliner at
age twenty-two in the spring of 1958, shares a warm embrace with devoted
fan John Greenstreet, who traveled all the way from Baltimore for the opportunity
to meet and chat with her during the event. |
